Dynamic Governance in the Public Sector Seminar

 

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), The Consulting Office (TCO) organized a seminar on “Dynamic Governance in the Public Sector”. 

The seminar, held at Mina Al Salam, aimed at bringing insights of the Singapore model of government to the senior leaders of various Government of Dubai entities.

In his opening address, His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum said: “The current global scenario has reinforced the role played by the government sector, regardless of the nature of the political and economic system.

“It is essential for us to continue to develop our human resources, and leverage our collective knowledge and experience.”

The seminar featured a presentation by Government Strategy and Public Policy expert Professor Neo Boon Siong on “Dynamic Governance”.

Professor Boon Siong is the Director of the Asia Competitiveness Institute at the National University of Singapore, and a Fellow of the Civil Service College and the Singapore Institute of Directors. 

He presented case studies, success stories and lessons learnt while converting  Singapore to an icon of good governance, which  helped place the small country firmly on the global map.

Professor Boon Siong said: “No amount of careful planning can ensure a government`s continuous relevance and efficiency without sufficient institutional capacity for learning, innovation and change, in face of ever new challenges.

“Dynamism is the key to success. That said, governments dynamism is characterised by new ideas, fresh perceptions, continual upgrading, quick actions, flexible adaptation and creative innovations.”

Commenting on the event, Huda Al Hashimi, CEO of The Consulting Office said: “The seminar brings together senior government officials who want to capture the rapidly evolving reform opportunities, to get to the cutting edge of research and best practices.”
